Salvacion Lim Higgins is the only Filipino designer to have her work represented in the collections of both the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. She was known for possessing a true technician’s understanding of the ingenuous engineering that brought her creations to reality, as well as an extraordinary color palette. She not only mentored many young designers in her lifetime, but also founded Slim’s Fashion & Arts School in 1960 – now the oldest fashion institution in the country. The school continues to remain relevant and maintain its high standard of technical excellence to this day. From each decade of the school’s history, notable alumni include Joe Salazar, Cesar Gaupo, Michael Cinco, Joey Samson, Oliver Tolentino and Oskar Peralta.
